Orders Continue To Heat Up! July Marks A Peak Season For The Production And Export Of Domestic Low-bed Semi-trailers.

In Liangshan, Shandong Province, a major hub for China's trailer manufacturing, production lines are running at full capacity. On the factory premises, multiple custom-built 3-line 6-axle low-bed semi-trailers with spring-assisted loading ramps have completed assembly and painting, waiting for shipment. Designed for transporting excavators, road rollers and mining machinery, these trailers adopt mechanical spring ramps requiring no hydraulic power. The simple structure lowers maintenance difficulty, making them ideal for tough operating conditions at construction sites and mines across Africa. Manufacturers reported that overseas custom orders in July rose more than 20% month-on-month. Buyers from Africa account for the largest share, alongside growing inquiries from British purchasers.

Favorable policies fuel robust demand from Africa. Since May this year, China has implemented zero-tariff treatment on certain semi-trailer products for 53 diplomatic African countries, effectively cutting procurement costs for overseas importers. A large number of infrastructure projects have broken ground in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other African nations. Local logistics and machinery rental companies are accelerating fleet renewal. Previously, importers needed to pay import tariffs ranging from 15% to 25% for Chinese trailers. After the policy adjustment, the total cost per unit has decreased noticeably, driving stronger demand for heavy-duty low-bed trailers including 3-line 6-axle and 4-line 8-axle models.

Overseas demand shows obvious regional differentiation. Clients in Africa and Southeast Asia prioritize durability and cost-effectiveness, preferring low-bed trailers fitted with spring ramps and leaf spring suspension. In contrast, market access thresholds remain high in the UK and the EU. Following Brexit, the UK enforces independent vehicle regulations. If trailers operate on public roads, they must obtain WVTA whole vehicle type approval issued by the UK VCA authority. Many British buyers clearly distinguish usage scenarios during negotiations: certification is unnecessary for equipment operating solely within factory yards, while road-going vehicles require prior certification planning, which has become a key topic in foreign trade communications.

For long-distance delivery to the UK and Europe, Ro-Ro shipping is the preferred transport solution for oversize trailers. Trailers can be towed directly onto and off vessels to avoid collision risks during lifting. Nevertheless, space on Ro-Ro ships on Asia-Europe routes remains tight with volatile freight rates, pushing many foreign trade firms to book shipping spaces well in advance.

Compliance has become a widespread focus for trailer exporters in July. Major B2B platforms have tightened supervision recently. Common violations leading to account suspension include intellectual property infringement, diverting transactions off-platform and publishing false product specifications. Many trailer sellers have adjusted operational strategies: using original factory photos for all listings and marking dimensions and load capacities truthfully to avoid penalties. Exporters also ensure consistent information across customs declarations, certificates of origin and packing lists to cope with increasingly strict inspection standards worldwide.

Industry insiders hold an optimistic outlook for the second half of the year. Ongoing development of the African Continental Free Trade Area will sustain long-term demand for heavy haulage trailers. In Europe and the UK, strict vehicle certification rules restrict bulk order releases, with most business limited to small trial orders and preliminary technical discussions. Manufacturers continue upgrading products by customizing suspension, tyres and ramp configurations to suit local road conditions in different countries. Meanwhile, exporters provide comprehensive service packages, clearly informing customers about shipping options, import clearance rules and local vehicle access regulations to prevent trade disputes.

Batch after batch of low-bed semi-trailers are prepared for delivery to destinations worldwide. Chinese engineering transport machinery continues to enter global markets. Domestic manufacturers are shifting from pure product exports to integrated solutions covering logistics planning and technical consultation. Supported by mature customisation capabilities, local enterprises will keep exploring opportunities in the global special vehicle industry.
